Why do you think is there so much discripancy on the cost of lasik eye surgery?Latosha
I were thinking about getting lasik eye surgery and checking for the costs. I found so much discripancy on the costs. For example, at www.lasikmd.com, they say that their minimum is CDN$490/eye though the prices change per prescriptions. But, at www.Bochner.com, it says the minimum is CDN$2700/eye. What do you think is the reason for such discripancy?

I would go to a couple of places for free lasik consultations. Feel free to ask as many questions as you have regarding the type of laser they use and about the surgeons. Ask around to friends, family, or co-workers. And just make sure the price that is quoted includes all of your post-op care and there are no hidden fees.

the type of laser used and the experience of the surgeon, plus the type of Rx done.plus marketing and upselling techniques. even in those "$490" cases, almost no one actually gets it for $490

Lasik eye surgery is a dangerous surgery. The cheaper doctors don't recalibrate the machines after each procedure. If you are serious about the surgery, you need to visit and ask some questions. Check out these links for more information.

There are different forms of Lasik using different types of equipment. As well, they are in different parts of the country. These may all be factors--as well as the doctor's choice. I suggest you investigate more deeply the type of equipment they use, their success rates from their previous patients and the results from their particulary type of proceedure.Good luck!
