So is the valium going to work when i have lasik?Pansy Lol. I'm super nervous about my upcoming lasik procedure that's coming up soon. I know they are going to give me Valium, but is it going t work? I'm scared I'm going to get so nervous when they are doing it that I my move and mess them up. Also, share your experience, those that have had it.
Keli I just had Custom LASIK on Monday! LOVE IT!! I was VERY apprehensive about it. I have very bad vision, (left eye -7 and right eye -8) They told me that they would do teh best they could-but with my prescription-they may not be able to get it perfect. (Of course they can never guarantee it 100%) (no one knows what someones eyes will do). Anyway--they don't give you the valium until your done-because they need your alertness in the procedure. They put drops in that deaden the eye. They work-don't worry about it! I'm assuming the doc and assitants will do the same as mine--ask them first if you wish--but mine talked me thru EVERY step. They have you lay on the bed-look at a dot and stare at it. You will feel some pressure from the marking rings-but it doesn't hurt. Just keep looking at the dot. Mine would say "perfect, perfect-keep looking-perfect!" Then they would shift to the other eye. Same thing! Afterwards-they check them out. There is some discomfort afterwards--when you get home-lay flat on back and stay like that for 4-5 hours (take your Valium then) eye closed. Keep the eye protectors on. After about the 4-5 hours-you'll be amazed!! It gets better each day!!! by the way--yesterday was my 1 day check up--left eye is 20/20 and right eye is right behind that and it will get better with time!! They did great!!! Very pleased!!When is your surgery date!! Let me know how it goes!! and what you think!
Lynda I had Lasik! The valium actually made my blood pressure drop, and I passed out afterwards!! The procedure itself is actually not too bad. You just have to look at a red laser and follow it with your eye. They keep your eye open with a special plastic thing, so its not too bad. Good luck!!!
Kimberlie As long as you don't take any routine narcotic such as a pain reliever or a sleeping pill..which would make you more tolerant of the medication. It should work fine. :}
