Lasik but my eyes are very sensitive to smoke any help?

Dorian
I got lasik eye surgery in October, which I am very happy with. At first my eyes were dry but gradually they became less dry. However the other night I was at the bowling ally with my husband and in the parking lot their were two people smoking who were walking ahead of us, and my eyes immediately got red and itchy . I don't smoke but it seems to really affect me when people are walking on the sidewalk smoking.

I had lasik 5 years ago and my eyes were extremely sensitive to any kind of smoke afterward as well. At the time I thought maybe it was because my cornea was thinner from the lasik surgery. I had a high plus correction (+5.5). At any rate, they gradually became less and less sensitive to smoke and now are nearly the same sensitivity to smoke as before the lasik.

Try to avoid smoking environments. I know it's impossible to avoid all so possibly contact eyedrops might help you? My brother uses that when his eyes are itchy or irritated and it seems to work for him.

Hi, Ann, The smoke is very drying for your eyes not to mention harmful to your respiratory system. Avoid exposure to smoke, i.e., stay away from smokers and have a small bottle of liquid tears with you when you're going out to help moisten your eyes. The Muse
