Is there like a lasik eye surgery in the air force academy?Buddy I want to be a fighter pilot and my vision is 20/30 do they have surgery in there?
Corie yesss, im an airman (enlisted) and my husband is on a waiting list to get it done at lackland. u can still be a pilot, dont let people BS you.
Felton The Air Force will provide the surgery for you, but if your vision comes out less than 20/20 (which it sometimes does with Lasik) you won't be qualified to be a fighter pilot.
Elisa DO NOT GET SURGERY ON YOUR OWN! Lasik is a disqualifier for pilots. The PRK is the surgery they use. If you go to the academy they'll do it for you. But don't get it yourself because it will disqualify you. You have to talk with your superiors beforehand.
Alva I had Lasik eye surgery done after wearing glasses for 16 years. It has been perfect for me. I have had no changes. Of course, as I age, I expect changes. I also co-manage refractive surgery and have seen hundreds of successful patients. It doesn't hurt, generally. There is a bit of pressure, but no real pain if you have LASIK. The PRK version (where no flap is cut) is a little more uncomfortable for the first few days following the procedure. I've seen several people who said they were in some pain, but healed just fine. I used to wear both glasses and contact lenses. I had LASIK done and it's the best decision I've ever made. I can see clearly, no squinting, no driving with glasses anymore. I can read road signs, see the individual leaves in the trees (they're not just a blurry mess anymore). It's also nice to be able to see what time it is when I wake up. The procedure is painless (although a bit uncomfortable) but takes less than 15 minutes. Highly recommended. Ofelia You can be a pilot with 20/30 vision, as long as it corrects to 20/20 with glass's.Your vision just has to be better than 20/50 uncorrected.
Esther Doubtful. Lackland A.F.B. prescribes glasses to fix this.
Avis no you have to have uncorrected 20/20 vision to be a pilot no excuses
