Is lasik surgery relatively safe now no matter where i go or should i be super picky when choosing a center?Jacquline I found a place that is having a special through July, but I don't know much about it apart from what their website tells me. Should I be more discriminating? I don't want to go blind or anything.
Rossana Honestly, if I was looking to have ANY sort of surgery and I found a place that was having a "special", I would run as fast as I could in the opposite direction! You should consult with your doctor and see who they suggest, or even if they think you are a good candidate for the surgery. Lasik is not safe wherever you go, you don't want to go to a doctor that is not very thorough when it comes to cleanliness, get an infection, and possibly loose your vision entirely!
Bobbye No amount of technology is going to compensate for an inferior surgeon. You must make Lasik doctor selection your number one priority. That is the person who is going to evaluate you, advise you, and aim a laser at your eye. You want to be sure you have the best.I work for a Lasik patient advocacy. We don't do Lasik. We provide Lasik information and certify Lasik doctors' patients' results. We have our 50 Tough Questions For Your Lasik doctor that you may find helpful, and a list of doctors whose outcomes we have verified. http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik-tough-questions.htm
Keitha Hello, Elsie. I am a representative from LasikPlus hoping to provide insight to your question. Your decision about where you will have your LASIK procedure is as important as your decision whether or not to have laser vision correction. Your surgeon should have extensive experience performing the procedure he or she is recommending for you, as well as an excellent track record of success.Although it’s elective, laser vision correction is a serious medical procedure and should be performed by a qualified doctor of ophthalmology. Your provider should use the newest, most effective FDA-approved lasers and technology for optimal safety and results. We are glad to hear that you are considering having LASIK and you may have more questions about the procedure. In order to provide the most accurate information and have all your questions answered; I’m happy to direct you to your local LasikPlus Vision Center for a free consultation with a physician to determine if Laser eye surgery could be right for you. Please visit http://tinyurl.com/LasikPlus or call 1 (866) 953-0282. I hope this information was helpful!
