I'm 23 and have had glasses since 8yrs old. My boyfriend is 24 and has had glasses since he was 13. We've been talking about it but everyone I know that's had the surgery is over 40. Should we just wait?

It depends less on your age and more on how stable your Rx has been over the last few years. I had the surgery at 21, however my Rx fluctuated quite a bit after that. I needed two more enhancements. Your doctor can give you both the best answer. I've worked for a doctor who has performed over 2000 Lasik surgeries and most of his patients are under 40. They tend to get the most out of it b/c they are not at that "reading glasses" age yet. My husband and multiple friends have had it with great results. I was just an "odd" case...no biggie...still one of the best choices I have ever made...
