Im in the military and i want to be a pilot but they dont accept people with lasik can they tell ive had it?Coletta Im tryin to become a pilot in the army, I have to have 20/20 vision, but the regulations say that you cannot have had lasik surgery, can they tell if youve had it with a eye test?
Ada no but they can probably get your medical records and im shure that it is on that
Eduardo Hmm I have read they ARE allowing lasik patients to fly now.
Ettie I suspect that you are trying to get into their rotary flight program and that along with the flight program for fighters are closed to Lasik at this time. This is because they both use heads up displays and helmet visor displays and some of the affects after Lasik cause problems with using these. The Air Force is accepting people with Lasik into some of their other flight programs that don't use these features. You may want to do some checking and see if you can get into one of those other programs that is accepting people that have had Lasik.
Alpha Yes they can very easily find out and the major reason they do not let you fly is because high in the sky lasik reverses itself and you will go blind. Do not try to trick them it will not work.
