If i get lasik will i still be qualified to be usmc scout sniper?Fausto I'm interested in becoming a USMC Scout Sniper, I understand that it requires alot of effort, but my eyesight isn't the best (I'm still a good shot with a gun because I wear my prescription glasses) and I want to know if I'm still qualified for that position if I undergo any corrective eye surgery procedures.Any feedback is appreciated.M.R.
Freddie When I enlisted in 1994, you could not join the Corps at all if you had corrective eye surgery. Check with your local recruiter...
Anglea I couldnt answer this question. You really need to talk to a recruiter about it. Go right to the source and find out. If you don't qual then don't join.
Elidia u can regain ur eyesight naturally (dont get me wrong it'll take a load of time) do eye exercises, on the link below u can make certain aspects of eyes stronger, i would recommend strongly that u follow these especially the focus 1. but do them all properly, take ur time and do it THREE (3) times a dayCopy paste the link in adress bar or click on it : http://www.visionimprovementsite.com/eye-exercises/
Felicitas your MOS field will be infantry, but if you get lasik, that could disqualify you from being a sniper. they may make you a mortarman or something like that. you may just get denied from being 0300 in the first place. alot of factors play into this. all you can do is wait and see. good luck.semper fioorah
Chae Yes !
Gwyneth I wouldn't get Lasik surgery done. There are a lot of jobs that you'll be disquified for getting Lasik done on the Civilian side. It has something to do with the incision that is made on the eye before it gets zapped with the laser. Talk to a recruiter and see if the Marines are authorizing eye surgery yet to fix vision. The Navy is doing it now and is using a method that doesn't make an incision. It takes a couple days longer to heal up, but when it does you can see just as well as after Lasik surgery but without the scar of the incision. Also having the military do it will allow you a greater chance of getting the surgery waived to get into specialized schools that require uncorrected vision. Good luck to you.
