I was told lasik could correct my far vision?Eusebio but I would still have to wear reading glasses, I went to TLC. Would you get another opinion? I don't want to wear reading glasses right away, I realize that eventually you do.
Cherilyn Laser does not return the ability to focus the eyes at near if you are over 40. If both eyes are lasered for distance vision then yes you will have to wear reading glasses. You might talk to TLC, though, about the possibility of a mono vision correction. This is where one eye is lasered for distance and the other is lasered for near. I am 51 and have had this done. I am free of glasses for the great majority of vision tasks. Not everyone is able to adapt to this but if you do adapt you will love it.
Dalila I'm 49 and haven't had it done. For me, being able to see distances without glasses isn't worth it for me to have to whip out reading glasses every time I want to read something or look at something in fine detail. I do have a pair of reading glasses and I hate them. I really wouldn't want to have to depend on them. All they do is magnify what you're looking at. Some people are fine with it but it really bothers me.
Miyoko If you are maybe interested in doing the mono vision, I would highly suggest you try it first for a couple of weeks with contact lenses to see if you can adapt, because it's too late afterwards.
