I want to be a pilot and lasik?

I want to be a pilot . my vision is both 20/40.I know that FAA accepts corrective lenses( commercial pilot) I heard that FAA also allows lasik surgery. I want to know how dangerous the lasik is, and what percent gets side effect. Finally, If you were me, will you do lasik surgery?

I am a pilot and I had Lasik. My best advice to you is to visit a Lasik doctor and get an examination. There are certain situations where lasik is not the best option. There are potential side effects, and one in particular, I have is halos around bright lights at night. They have diminished over tile, yet in my right eye, I still have some halo effects. To counter this, I use eye drops, but they are still ever so slightly there. corrective lenses are not all that bad, simply inconvenient at times.

It's actually to the point the Air Force will accept folks who had Lasik to correct their vision. I'm actually researching some doctors in the local area and asking them questions because I do plan on getting Lasik next year. When it first came out, I still remember it being blade, but with laser now and more experienced docs, it's really much much more difficult to go wrong at all. The docs will also let you kow that if your eyes will be able to take the Lasik or will reject it for now and wait until technology comes out with a better version. Best bet, see who in local area offers it, check out their ratio, and ask why the negative ratio had complications/problems/rejections.

lasik is very safe ... and last thing you need is for your contact to fall out or your glasses to get stepped on during a flight ...just be sure you do your research and choose an experienced and reputable doctor ....

Lasik has a very high rate of success with limited side effects. The procedure has been perfected over many years, and it would likely help you in your goal of becoming a pilot.

I would. You have always heard the saying follow your dreams now is the time to do that
