Does lasik improve the quality of vision in terms of vision contrast and sharpness?Cherri My contrast and sharpness is the same now after PRK as in contacts...I do not see a measureable difference.
Ariana no. lasik is usually NO BETTER as far as any subjective measurement of vision than any other method. better acuity with lasik than glasses/contacts? ...no. better contrast sensitivity with lasik vs glasses/contacts? ...no. lasik just takes your glasses Rx "out" of your eyes. thats it. its not the be-all-and-end-all of vision correction. and it has some side effects like HALOS that usually dont exist in glasses/contact lenses.this is question #1 that i have seen for jasonlai todayedit: jason, i suspect that YOU ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWERS to all of these questions you ask here. you phrase them in a way that makes me think you already understand this stuff. if thats true, which i suspect it is, then you're like the know-it-all kid who asks questions in class that you already know the answer to, just so you can "look smart" to your classmates. this was a RAMPANT problem when i was in optometry school among my classmates. highly annoying.
Ardis I guess it would depend on what "condition" you have to begin with (i.e., astigmatism, nearsighted, farsighted, etc.) --- but, speaking from personal experience - I had LASIK in August 2001- it has been great and my vision is now 20/20 in both eyes without any corrective lenses or contacts. And it's crisp & clear with no "haloing" effect. It's been great!
