Does having lasik eye surgery make your eyes more sensitive to light?

It can, especially immediately following the procedure, but tends to decrease as the healing process continues. Another possible side effect can be increased glare and halos, especially at night and dry eyes. For most people, these tend to, again, be temporary and improve as the healing process continues. There are some people who have moderate to severe side effects but its just like any other type of medical procedure and its your surgeon's responsiblilty to make sure you are aware and understand the possible side effects and risks of complications. Through testing, they will be able to pretty accurately gauge how you will respond to the surgery. And everyone's outcome and side effects will be different. I've met many people who have had the LASIK done (I worked in an Ophthalmology practice/surgery center where they did LASIK.) I was the optical manager and I lost quite a few of my patients to the procedure. I also performed quite a few post-op work-up's for the MD's and saw first hand how happy 98% of the patients were with their procedure. But as I said, it does not come without possible risks and side-effects. Ask lots of questions and choose your surgeon carefully.

Yes, but the sensitivity will gradually decrease.I also had problems when driving at night... The glare from oncoming traffic seemed to intensify. I stopped noticing that after quite a few months and it is perfectly fine now!Get all the facts first. Nothing better than making an informed decision.

Yes, it does. Your eyes will heal pretty quickly, though. If you just had Lasik surgery is important that you wear your protective goggles the very first days and that you do not rub your eyes. Your eyes will indeed be very sensitive to light, but as the weeks go by, your eyes will start getting stronger. Take good care of them while they heal. It can take up to months.

Yes it did even until now. I had mine done 2005. So remember to use a polarize sunglasses afterwards.

Two of my uncles got lasik and I haven't heard them say anything about sensitivity. They said to rest your eyes a lot for the 1st week (no computer or tv) and to sleep a lot. They see clearly now, and no side effects
