Does anyone have any advice for someone looking to have lasik?Cinderella
i had lasik back in 2001 and my vision is now 20/15 in one eye and 20/20 in the other.its a really safe procedure that just sounds kind of scary. the actual laser part takes just a few secs (i think one eye for me was like seven seconds and the other around nine)my only advice is to go to a good doctor. that is what i did. he sat down and talked to me about it so much i knew every step as it happened. it was the best thing i ever did. i forget sometimes that i used to wear glasses and fuss with contacts. honestly don't even think about it. i am 25 now and the sooner its done now they are saying the longer it will be before you would need reading glasses because you don't strain your eyes muscles as much and they don't wear out so quickly.good luck with your decision!oh to add. i too had astigmatism. very badly. my contacts were special made.

lasik has become a great way to correct refractive errors. whether it is myopes, hyperopes, astigmats, even presbyopes. just make sure that you have consulted everything about the procedure with the doctor, because there are times that you might still need spectacles after the procedure, for example.. if the untreated refractive errors was too high (high minuses). also, if you're wearing contacts, it's best if you have taken off the contacts for at least 3 weeks before the initial examination takes place. because they will measure the contour of your cornea and the use of contacts will be misleading.
