Can you be accepted in the military if you have had lasik surgery before enlisting?Florene I have horrible vision and am thinking about having lasik surgery. i want to enlist in the air force. Will they accept me?
Lashawnda Yes there is no problem with it. There may be jobs that you would need to try and get a medical waiver for but otherwise you will be fine. Remember to get paperwork from your doctors office referencing the surgery to help down the line.
Cassondra yes, they'll accept you. but to tell you the truth ... if you can wear glasses to correct your vision for now, it's best to get the surgery after you enlist. the military pays for that kind of stuff. i know ... my husband and a few people i know had the procedure done at no cost to them!i mean, the best thing to do is go talk to a recruiter. you'll get a vision and health screening at meps and they'll let you know if you're ok to join. the worst thing they can say is no b/c of your vision, then you can get the surgery. but like i said, if you can see ok with glasses, i would wait and let the military pay.good luck!
Elma The military would gladly accept you with your vision corrected. However, you may not be able to be a pilot since the stress of flying could injure your eyes. You would have to check with a recruiter to know for sure. The non-flying jobs wouldn't reject you just because of eye surgery as long as your eyesight was corrected to at least 20-40.
Angeles There are a lot of Jobs in the military, I friend of mine is a priest, a catholic priest, he used to help us during torture ( Intelligence).People trust on Priests ( How naive they are...!).He gave us comfort during torture sessions, it is sometimes hard to torture a child before his parents.Sadly, he is jailed, condemned to life in prison. He was a real friend of USA! http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/10/10/argentina-priest.html
Charlsie Yes, i know people did it. As long you pass the eye exam, normally they won't check your eye if you pass the eye exam in flying color, is when your failed the test or score poorly, they would exam your eye.
Anton Assuming the surgery corrected his vision to regular vision requirements, then yes of course.
Leta Yes
