this is referring to the Scout Sniper occupation of the USMC.

Tricare will cover lasik for active duty. If you're a sniper (or other certain MOS' that qualify) or an Officer, you get bumped to the top of the list (if your hospital on Post offers it.) Our hospital has over a year back up; so the list can be really long. But, no lasik wouldn't disqualify you from being a sniper.

Not to long ago they passed Lasik eye surgery to be acceptable for Fighter Pilots if i find the link ill put it in here for ya.

snipers need 20 20 vision and 20 10 would be a bonus but if it falls shorter than 20 20 your stuffed
