Can i pay for lasik surgery through a health savings account hsa?Vern I've got a health savings account where I can contribute up to $5, 000 tax free. Can I use this money for Lasik surgery even though this is considered "cosmetic" surgery?
Fleta You should be able to but check with your human resources person to be sure
Jenine maybe ask
Meryl I don't see why not but I am sure plans vary. Check with the provider.
Chastity Yes, You usually can. But Make sure you time it correctly. Most companies make you use those fund within a year and after that you lose it if you did not use it. So find a doctor and plan it with them.
Fred I got my lasik surgery in India.Paid 1500$ for custom wavefront lasik for both eyes.It included my stay and food in a deluxe room for 6 days.Mine was arranged by the forerunners healthcare.you can get in touch with them-hope this helps. http://www.forerunnershealthcare.compaid 1300$for the airfare--so just 2800$ for both eyes.
Isobel Some things different between employers HSA (I have done HSA's at different employers, second one covered more than the first), so the only way to know 100% is to ask your HR people. My current plan says - Cosmetic surgery Some Surgery for medical reasons only, including correcting a birth defect or repairing damage caused by an accident. If you can get a doc to say it is medical required you have a better chance of getting it covered.
