Can i become a pilot if i had lasik surgery? and if yes what is the first step?

Colleen
yes.. your vision just has to be correctable to 20/20.. whether you do that with glasses, contacts or surgery, youll be fine... once it's corrected, the first step would be to go to your local airport and inquire about flight instruction.. if you're young, go to school and get your bachelors.. there are some university programs that can give you flight training.. but its highly expensive.. i might suggest going to school for whatever kind of degree and doing flight training on the side.. its still expensive, but the flight training will probably be cheaper because you wont be flying brand new or top the of line equipment.. you dont need that stuff anyway.. your first job is gonna be in an old beat up plane probably.. going from a student pilot to a commercial multi-engine pilot will cost somewhere around 50k-60k..

Yes you can. As long as you eyesight can be corrected to 20/20 vision you will be fine.

Yes, and the first step is to have the surgery.

Fonda
The first step is a physical exam with a FAA designated medical examiner..

I just read in yesterday's (Sunday) paper that the FAA has changed it's stance and is allowing Lasik for pilots.
