Can an ophthalmologist perform lasik surgery if the doctors pinky finger is inoperable?Joya
I am told that LASIK is mostly computerized and is not a manual form of microsurgery. Therefore, if a doctor has a non-functioning pinky finger, and is otherwise a great doctor, does this matter? Please only answer this question if you have facts or data from the medical community that support your reply and thank you.

If the rest of the doctors fingers work fine there should be no problem at all with him perfoming LASIK on someone. If you are that concerned about this then find someone else to do the surgery or ask people who have had surgery done by the doc.

I've seen the surgery on tv. It is mostly done with computers. Anyway when a doctor does hold onto equipment/ tools they don't normally need their pinky fingers. I'm 'blind as a bat'. If I had that surgery I would make sure I was COMPLETELY cofident the doctor wouldn't screw it up and completly blind me. I would rather lose a body part then go blind!Good Luck
