Being left eye dominant i was wondering if lasik surgery will correct this problem i wear glasses and near s?Cristine Being near sighted, left eye dominant, I am a handgun target shooter, shoot right handed too old to switch to try shooting left handed.
Emilee Its better that you get either a Lasik surgery for full distance correction and use a pair of glasses for near vision. Else its better to not get the procedure done if you are a professional target shooter.
Lenard I'm guessing that you might have started out being left-handed but was made to use your right hand at some point so that's why you have that cross dominance. I'm right-handed but also right eye dominant and have been that way for as long as I can remember. As for getting corrective surgery, I'm not sure you would like having to wear reading glasses because this procedure will essentially make you farsighted. If you're older and nearsighted, you probably can still see close up naturally without corrective lenses. I've heard people say that after getting LASIK done, you will only occasionally have to wear glasses for reading and other close up work. I've noticed that in most older people, that's not the case. They spend a lot of time taking out those glasses and putting them on and then putting them away again after they're done using them. You might not mind that but it would bother me a great deal. That's why I haven't seriously considered getting LASIK.
Elayne Being near-sighted can be corrected by Lasik, but not being left-eye dominant. It is not a problem to be corrected. It is inherent, like being left-handed.
Micha Dominance is a feature of the brain, not the eyes.Yes, the eyes may be the reason for dominance, but simply removing the reason won't make the dominance go away. It will take at least some balance "training".
Christeen lasik is the best potion for u !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clementine Not only was I left eye dominant, my vision was 20/10 which is pilot vision. I never regarded this as a handicap, but rather as a gift from birth. I went into the military at 17 and when it came time to learn to shoot, I had an excellent drill instructor who knew right away of my situation. Plus I couldn't hit anything right handed. LOL. He made me shoot left handed and I hit everything. Problem was solved, but it was the first time I used a gun and I was only 17. Hey, played a lot of baseball growing up and having a dominant left eye batting right handed was an extreme advantage. I could see the ball immediately from the left side of my nose. lol. Oh well, end of story. Just sharing. I don't know your age, but shooting left handed would do you well. Just practice practice practice. Good luck.
Berneice Hi, I have the same ''problem'' in terms of left eye dominance and shooting right handed. You cannot change eye dominance unfortunately. Much the same as you cannot change being ''right handed or left handed''. Typically to correct for both a distance prescription and a near prescription, a mono-vision treatment is preferred. This involves correcting your dominant eye for distance vision and your non-dominant eye for near. This is unlikely to be of any use to you however. If you were to pursue laser treatment, you would be better off having a full distance correction and needing reading glasses for near work. What I have said above is typical, however it would always be wise to check whether or not you can accommodate having a monovision correction first. This can be simulated with contact lenses prior to having laser treatment.Do email me if you have any further questions.Kind regards
