are you satisfied with your lasik? im going in next week and im going to have to pay a little over $100 a month for it.......i have heard that it is the best choice a person can make in their lifetime.........i just want some input as i am going next week to get it!

I was a consultant for refractive eye surgery not too long ago (left because I moved). After working there for over four years I would say that it is one of the best things you can do. I myself am not a cadidate but my brother-in-law and several friends have done it and each one of them sees at least 20/20 others are at 20/15. the only time people turnout out to be unhappy is if they need an enhancement. This can happen if you are starting off with a really strong prescription (-8.00 and up) or if your doctor decides to be a bit conservative with your initial surgery. Enhancements are easy and done a few months after the first surgery. The biggest risk is infection and your surgeon should give you eye drops to combat this. My only caution would be to make sure that your surgeon has done plenty of these procedures and make sure the laser is stationary. Some places rent lasers for a day or two and they are trucked in the day before or day of your surgery.

Extremely satisfied. I had mine done in 1999 in Atlanta, GA and have been very happy w/ the outcome. I was pretty badly nearsighted and had a slight astigmatism in my right eye. Now, my right eye is still very slightly nearsighted w/o astigmatism and my left eye is slightly farsighted. I don't need correction to drive and i can read w/o reading glasses - i'm 50 yrs old.
