Anyone here had lasik surgery? and if so did it make a difference in your life?Lauri
I did it 4 years ago & to me it was the decision i ever made.

I had the procedure done also. I thought it was wonderful at first. Since about the age of 14, I had always worn glasses -- I was extremely near sighted to the point of being almost legally blind without my glasses or contacts. Finally, at the age of 39, I decided to get the procedure. It was great. I could wake up and see! What a terrific thing. That was two years ago.Now it's not so terrific of a thing. My eyes are reverting back to their original shape (In the procedure, the doctor actually reshapes your cornea with the laser which makes your vision better.) -- so my near sightedness is returning. I am told it could be only slightly bad or it could return to the way it was before I had the procedure which would be really bad. There's no way of telling. BUT it isn't bad enough yet for the doctor to "re-do" the lasik surgery. That can be done if my eyesight gets bad enough where they consider that the benefits outweigh the risks of another procedure. SO, I am now wearing glasses again when I drive and watch t.v. Which is still better than I was before the procedure. I'm just scared now of how bad my eyes will actually get before they stop "reverting." Also, damage was done to my tear ducts during the procedure which has caused severe dry eye which cannot be "fixed" or remedied without further surgery. I was told by the lasik doctor and my own eye doctor, that I was just one of the unfortunate ones who had both major risks to the surgery come true. Lucky me.

Made a huge difference in my life. I went from being legally blind to 20/25 and not needing glasses anymore. Best elective surgery I ever had.Being free from glasses and contacts is huge. You no longer have to depend on that crutch. You don't have to worry about being able to see when you go swimming. You don't have the increased risk of eye infections. It is a wonderful world.
